Engine Gas flow problem

If anyone can offer some advice I would love to hear it. I have a2000 sea hunt walk around with a 2000 150 Johnson Ocean Pro and a 9.9 evin. kicker. I had a friend (Kouhty) work on the kicker and replace the throttle and impeller last summer. While working on the kicker i took boat to OBX to fish the Hatteras inlet. While there experinnces some gas problems. Had boat to keep stalling and ball keep going flat. After trolling the coast from the inlet to the lighthouse (8-10) miles on the way back motor kept stalling. Sarted and ran it 100 15o times it would start go full throttle and stallwithing 10 to 30 deconds. eventually it would not start anymore. Had to be towed in from the Ocean, through the inlet, not cheep! Worked all day on the boat the next dayl Thought I had the problem fixed. Took on a trial run before bringing home, ran perfect. came home and had similar problem back in lake erie. In NC i removed fuel water seperator, took off all lines to motor from tank, removed floor of boat and took line to bottom of tank and blew it out. Thought I had fixed, ran great for 15 min full out but continued to have occas. problems, ack here in late summer and fall. Love to have the problem fixed going into this season. :(

If the ball on the fuel line keeps going flat it has to either be a problem with the ball itself, or something between it and the fuel tank. My first thought was a plugged or at least restricted fuel line. Maybe an in-line filter or fitting needs replaced. Also, if you fuel line feel rock hard, they a probably due to be replaced.

Also check the fitting on tank going to engine.Should have an anti-siphon valve in the fitting and they go bad causing exactly what you describe.

Try a new OEM bulb - make sure it's installed in the proper direction. Bulbs just go bad on the inside.

My 115 Johnson has a fuel filter where the fuel line attaches to the motor. Had some dirt in the filter which caused an intermittent miss in the motor. Cleaned the filter and problem went away. You may check and see if you have a filter. If there's dirt in it, the dirt can move around and cause the fuel flow to be interrupted intermitently.

Sounds like the anti siphon valve to me too. The fitting looks like a regular hose barb and is probably aluminum. To diagnose further you could run the engine on a remote fuel tank such as a small outboard motor tank. Connect it directly to the motor. If it runs fine then the problem is the fuel system on the boat. If you still have the problem then the issue is on the motor.
