11/05/24. Tuesday morning at 6:49 am and standing behind 201 folks waiting to vote in Streetsboro. Just over an 1 hour later I was in route to Chagrin river Rd and hoping for a steely 🤞
I fished and explored today for 8 hours. One bobber down and one fish caught ... and kept.
My best guess is ... I walked about 3 miles worth of river (Chagrin) at several locations. I saw fish mostly with deeper pools and some fast water 💦 areas. What I noticed mostly today was the Steelhead I did see were very skittish and some had jigs in their backs/head/mouths. Very pressured fish with most trapped in between pools with somewhat deep water and ripple water at both ends.
Rain ☔ 🌧 is the bottom/top line to get everything back in order.
My fish this morning was caught in a section of water that was 5 to 8 plus feet deep and about 100 yards long. It's a spot that was NEW to me and it took about two hours to find a tactic that eventually provided me with my Steelhead today.
That tactic... Bobber and a minnow with a tiny split shot. Casted out into many leaves 🍂...over and over until I was almost done. The wind alllllll day was brutal. Finally had that (cast) bobber did a tip thing twice and then a swirl 🍥 ... Reel to weight and a couple of minutes later I had bonked a nice 8.5 hen.
Fishing 🎣 in general is very difficult right now with the drought like conditions and super clear/low water. This nice weather is starting to become a pain in the ass ... I'm NOT kidding. It's NOVEMBER 🎣.
... I'm done for tonight.
Chagrin river park looking towards the 90 bridge. This is generally two feet deep at this time of year...I struggled to find water at my shins today.
🎣 I did manage to tie up 60 plus eggs tonight from the Steelhead I harvested today (11/05/24) that's ... 60 plus from one skien. Tomorrow I'll process the other.
