went to east fork today 3-14-2012 crappies were slow on floaters with minnows. we caught 3 nice ones but it took 4 or 5 hours to get em. water was merky. so we got out the 6" stick baits and planer boards stripers were hitting pretty good we trolled 2.5- 3 MPH. rather quickly we had 2 fish in the 18 inch range and had something big on never saw it could have been a muske we were fishing over weed beds along the campers beach. water temp was 51 degrees.

man, you did better than i did. to day got on the lake about 1200 or so and left at dark not a single bite I couldnt even pay the bass to hit. every cove i pulled in to had a min of 5 boats in it. and it seemed every time i looked at a boat they where pulling in some nice crappie. guess i should of trolled too for some strippers. :D o well. it was just good to get out for the first time this year. and glad to hear you did good

Neudiver,

We are heading out to EF tomorrow for some Crappie, but if the bite is slow we might take your advice and pull some boards. I have never fished boards with anything but live bait before and was wondering if you would mind sharing what you mean by 6" stick baits and how you rig them? Any advice you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
