If anyone would like to drift fish out of Conneaut Ohio give me a shout, it's been a blast, only trolled 1 time this season and only had a time or two we didn't get our limit. We've been drifting between 70 to 74 feet , casting harnesses, These fish fight way better than most think when on a spinning rod.
I'm retired or retarded depending on who you ask , can fish most any day the lake allows. All you need to do is show up and fish, don't need gas money but you can bring me a good Italian sub and a Coke for lunch. Have a 28 Penn Yan so you'll be fishing on a nice boat

That is a kind of offer. I reached out to my father who retired about a year ago. He's been fishing forever but seems to lack the motivation anymore unless I take him on a bigger trip or take some vacation days to bring the boat up to northeast Ohio.
He said he was going to catch up on sleep the first year of retirement and I think he's hit that point haha. Hopefully I'll send a message with his info if I can convince him.

I have been casting Conneaut also, the fishing has been fantastic. Nothing like feeling your line getting heavy and setting the hook. The fish lately have been holding at 50 ft. in the 73- 75 foot range. The only thing that is wrong, I like to fun fish a lot but most of the fish you land their air bladders blow, pushing their stomachs out, even if you bring them up slow. I like to keep the the 16-18 inch ones, the fish we are getting seem to be 20 plus ones with the biggest being 28 and are real fat . So we are keeping every one brought in. We also caught a couple of sheepheads out there so they all didn't die. Gold and purple were the hot colors

Im using 3 oz egg sinkers on a 30 count, my daughter's bf has been using 2 oz with equal or better results,so I'll say do a little experimenting and see what works with your retrieve. We tie our harnesses with a large loop with a trapped bead, just slide the weight over the loop and snap on your line. I also close the bail when it hits the water as they hit it on the fall quite often. All this depends on how fast your drifting also
