Have always done well there kayak fishing. Fish the drop offs where it drops from 20 foot to 30 foot. I have done well using motoroil with red flake sinkos rigged wacky style

 

Thanks for pointer. Maybe not worth giving up on yet. Need to get a depth finder I think but blew this year's "canoe upgrade budget" on trolling motor set up.

 

Friend and I snuck a canoe in there before it was a metro park and we absolutely slaughtered bass. They were schooling like white bass, paddle over to the feeding school and catch 2-3 lb bass until you got sick of it with an occasional bigger fish. It was insane fishing. Then they opened it to the public. Went back once. It's really a shame they opened it to the public, it was virgin fishing

So you could keep trespassing and bragging about how good it was catching fish illegally?

 

yes. But you know what? We respected the fishery and released all fish. Harmless kids seeking adventure. Can't say the same for the people who kept everything they caught. Which act is more harmful?

 

And actually, if you accessed the lake via creek and dragged the canoe to it, there were no "No trespassing" signs posted, so do with that what you will

 

Some of the biggest bass in Ohio are in those waters. Just gotta find them.

 

I believe that all flows have big fish in it you just have to know where they are and which bait that will produce the strike

 

I was talking about the quarries not the river itself may have misunderstood which body of water he was talking about.

 

Me and a friend used to fish them shortly after they opened and would catch monster bluegill, after a few weeks it began to Peter out.

 

I've caught lots of nice fish at Darby Bends. Not sure why everyone says the bite there isn't very good.
