Curious which of these 10+ ponds is most productive? Caught a few gills & dink bass at horseshoe years ago, nothing at Kendall or indigo the few times I've tried. Any luck, ideas, or insight?

I haven't fish any of these in years. The best looking lake looked like indigo. At least it seems deep and probably has cooler spots for the fish. Biggest of the lakes too. Not sure if Virginia Kendall is open yet. It was closed to let the fish establish

Kendall has been open the last few years. Reopened in 2015. Nothing spectacular, has a decent population of small largemouth bass and quite a few rock bass.

I use to fish Indigo quite a bit about 20 years ago, very deep lake, had readings on the fish finder of 120' plus. I did very well bass fishing, but ONLY and I mean only time I could get anything to bite was in the evenings around dusk and in a canoe, that lake is so crystal clear no way to get them to even sniff a lure during the day from shore.

Yes it's an old quarry,. Does not have a lot (if any) structure so its a bit tough too fish. It gets a fair amount of pressure as well. There are better places to fish then the CVNP

Those ponds are always slow-going anymore. Long ago, I ditched those ponds and focused on the river. There are great stretches of water to work, great access off the Towpath, and an awesome variety and abundance of fish to catch.

I wanted to fish the river but I had no clue where to go... do you have a suggestion you can offer to me on where to start at? I would be going with a 10 year old so I don't want to be doing any bushwacking climbing sides of a hill ect. thanks in advance!

Bark61, not a whole lot of climbing, but it'll definitely be more complicated than walking along a manicured bank tossing bobbers. There are holes here and there where you can set a line and wait, but you'll benefit from being mobile and wading stretches. Park at the trailhead in Peninsula and go upstream or downstream, whichever you prefer. A bicycle allows faster travel to likely spots, and carry more gear if you'd like to pack a big lunch, etc. Great way to combine two activities, especially for kids!
