Does anybody know how to tie, make your own crawler harnesses. I've made a couple but they need to be a little better. I'd appreciate any help or advice.I think the eyes are getting hungry for them.

We have discussed this a couple times in the past and I provided detailed tying instructions but did not save the directions. They should be available via a search. Here is a picture of a harness I tie.

This isn't a pic of someones finished product but IS a pic of a way to get you there. These snell tieing jigs work real well, are inexpensive, and can be purchased from Cabelas. Jan's Netcraft, on the web, have pretty good prices on the pieces i.e. blades, beads, clevises. You can also pick up beads at your local craft stores and save a little more. Sorry for the quality of the pic.

Old Greybeard, that knot maker works great! That's what I use, along with 20 lb. floroucarbon line. I also use the plastic clevis that allows you to interchange your blades. Makes it easier to store them without the blades too. -Hooch-

I use a trilene knot, occasionally tie a few snells. Tie them with trilene 20-25 big game. I use them at pymatuning, Berlin, mosquito, and Milton.
I buy my beads at craft stores like Michael's.
I tie a barrel swivel on the top of all my harnesses. Put egg or bottom walking sinker on line then tie on a duo lock and fish it like a Lindy rig
Reason I use egg and bottom walking sinkers because those are the molds I have.
I like Colorado no. 4s for trolling just don’t often get a stiff enough wind for the blades to work.
I tie smaller sizes to try match the wind to get a blade that will work drifting.
