VERY nice catch of crappies :) Mind if I ask you where the heck is Galena lol? Again nice bunch of fish......Dan
Galena is a small town or village, just north of Westerville, OH and south of Sunbury, OH. The Big Walnut runs through Galena and feeds into Hoover on the very north end. It is off of Old 3C Highway/County Rd 24. Galena is known for its White Bass run, which should be coming up within a week or 2. There is a nice pier that you can walk on and in this case fish on also. Galena is just a little blip on a map.

Would you mine giving me directions from Dayton, Oh I am from there, but want to come up north me and my husband this weekend for some bass, crappie which ever is plentiful for the weekend.

Also nice stringer. What did you catch them on.

Like the post says below me, it's just a small town north of Hoover. Once you get into the town and cross the bridge go left and park there to go to the creek or go around the road a bit to get to the parking for the pier. I was catching them all on minnows with a bobber. I went there again this morning hoping to catch a few more with my brother, but didn't have much luck. It was pretty cold and windy. We decided to go wade in the creek heading towards the mouth of the river, didn't fish long, but no real luck. We did see a few guys fishing close to the bridge leave with some pretty decent stringers of white bass......looks like they are starting to move in! Hopefully will get back down there in a few days and catch some white bass. Good luck!

I use to live in Sidney, OH. I will keep you on major routes since you are not from the area. The easiest way I would say is take 70E to Columbus and get on I-670E just before downtown Columbus. Take it to I-270 North. Stay in the right hand lanes and because you are going to want to get off onto St. Rt. 161. Just pay attention to the signs. The Highway will split and if you try to branch to the left you will not be able to get to 161. When you get to 161 take to the East and stay in the right hand lane and immediately get off on the Sunbury Rd exit. It will wrap around and turn right onto Sunbury Rd. You will see signs for Hoover Reservoir. Know you can go down and fish anywhere down Hoover Reservoir as you are driving past it. There are a couple of bait shops if you want to stop buy at. The easiest one is The Old Dutchman on the right just before you get to the dam at the reservoir.

Now, if you want to fish at the Pier in Galena, on the north end of Hoover Reservoir, follow Sunbury Rd for a while. Turn left onto Big Walnut Rd. Then turn right onto Old 3C Highway. You will be on Old 3C Highway for a bit and you can see Hoover Reservoir to the right and you willl see the Pier on the Right also. It is a long wooden pier. You will come into the village of Galena and immediately to the right is Front St. Turn Right onto Front St. and you will see the parking area and just park and walk down to the pier. If you miss Front St. you can go to the only flashing light and a 4 way stop and turn right there which I believe is Walnut St. You will see Big Walnut Creek run along side of it. If you follow it around you will see the parking area, it is just entering from the backside.

Below is a google map of the Hoover Reservoir and Galena area. Hope this helps and good luck. Hate to see you drive all the way here and leave empty handed.:good:

Didn't you mean 670 to I-71 North (not I-270 North)? At least not from 670, the 2 roads do not intersect. Or you could take 70 East to 270 North & follow around the city to 161 East than Sunbury Rd.

670 east pretty much dead ends into 270, left lanes going 270 north and right lanes going 270 south. so his directions are still good. Going to try and make it out to Galena in the next few weeks and see if I can get a white bass bigger than 12". Caught a few at alum last fall but they were all smalller.

Hoover should be producing for a while. As the north end slows down the middle will heat up. I've been fishing the middle section for 2 weeks picking off males. I would imagine any day now numbers will increase dramatically in the shallows.
