Id like to get everyone opinion. If someone was to ask you where to go to in Ohio to find crappie, what would you tell them? Bring on the pictures.

wish I could post pictures I have had good luck in numerous lakes so if someone asks me where in Ohio to find Crappie I would have to say "IN THE WATER" Berlin for the size Deer Creek (Stark Co) for Quantity But that's because I'm in Northeast Ohio

Are they deep, shallow(cover, docks). I usually struggle at this TOY. Have caught them around Eastertime staging(schooled up) just outside spawning bays, inlets in 8-10 fow but those could have been anomallies. I usually go ”shore fishing“on rare, nicer days this time of year as I read somewhere they will go shallow to feed(in warmer areas) around this time, which attracts baifish. I take my boat when their spawning since I can more easily “fish back into” cover, than from shore.

In NEO, the smaller lakes are good earlier lakes since they warm faster(Mogadore, Wingfoot in my area are two examples). You likely have ponds or smaller lakes in your area? Since you are in Parkersburg, some of the Ohio lakes(you might know abt already) are Atwood, Salt Fork, Tappan, Piedmont, Clendenning) are all good crappie lakes(some have saugeye) and within an hour or so up 77 to you. The NEO larger lakes previously mentioned might require a weekend trip but hungry, post spawn walleye are also a real possibility during the crappie spawn?! Welcome aboard, and Good luck where ever you end up. Post some pics!

We are going to take a stab at Caesar Creek Lake this year. Not sure what to expect, I see Cowan Lake is close by as well. Anyone?

Cowan is 9.9 hp, no size limit on crappie, but decent numbers of 9 -11 inch fish. Cowan isn’t as deep, always stained. CC is unlimited HP, fishes a little tougher for me. CC seems to have better size overall. 9 inch size limit. Both are good crappie lakes.

Spider Rigging Crappie in Mississippi for GIANT Crappie
Thanks to all the good information on Ohio Crappie Lakes. C. J. Stone you asked for some pictures, not pictures, but a video I was in with ACC Crappie Rods last year. I just wish we could have management in Ohio and West Virginia to allow the fish to get this size. That way I dont have to travel 1000 miles to find them. Enjoy the Video Guys. Thanks again. Glad to be on board. Papermouthmedic.

Hey Papermouth - Nice Video - We might not have the consistency of the size as down south but there are some Slabs worth catching here in ohio. I personally have caught several fish in 15-16 inch range with my biggest just shy of 17 inches right here in central ohio. I am not much of a spider rigger and like to fish one pole around structure. May the fishing be kind to you this year and see you out on the water.

Very Nice. With that spill upriver, I'm going to let the river clean its self for a while. Use to catch them up the little Kanawha river but have not been for some time. Thanks for the PICS.
