We launched from Catawba at 6:30 and pulled 4 limits of 18-24" eyes plus a few extra throwbacks by 10. Had to "recount" the 1st mates count to make sure we had our fish before any more went into the live well. We dropped right on top of good marks just west of Green island on a North troll, and didn't have the second line set before we had a fish on. In fact I don't think we had more than 3 lines in the water at any given time till almost 8:00. Finally setting all 6 rods it was a very steady pick with no more than 5-10 minutes between fish. 2oz 25' back at 1.6-1.8 with Antifreeze was the best. Trolling we only pulled 6 white bass and 2 sheeps, that was it. We lost 7-8 eyes at the boat as it got closer to 10, with the last couple coming in barely hooked on the trail hook even after we dropped back on misses. My buddy started casting a harness and pulled a few so we put the trolling rods away and enjoyed some fun fishing for about an hour.

We then decided to run over SE of rattle and try our hands at some perch. My 10YO was still grinning from the walleye when we anchored. By the way, the terrova anchor is awesome and I cant believe I didn't get this motor sooner. So first drop and my son pulls a 12 1/2" er (yay Game on!) and that was the big fish for the day. Lots of 8-9" fish with some smaller that we threw back, mostly on bottom hook but I managed several doubles as well.

We were done and off the water with 4 tix of both walleye and perch at 3:00, with a wicked sunburn.

Do you have to use minnows for the perch ? Or can you get them on shrimp like we do here on Lake Michigan. Or do you guys even use shrimp. We do good using it on the perch rig or when we pull spinners for them.

Kenny, I told your wife I would pay her $100 to keep that baby in there until at least the 4th of July so we can watch you suffer some while you wait. J/K bud, good luck with the newborn. Call me when you are ready to fish with us.

HA!! Kenny's going to have that baby clearing lines by Fall Brawl.

Thanks for the info Kenny, we would have started farther away and burnt more gas than needed. My boy is still smiling. He went to school and told every kid he knows about, as he described it "An epic day".

Good luck with the new Pace!

Glenn- Not sure if anyone uses shrimp or not on Erie. We have always used Emeralds or Pinheads that we pick from one of the many bait shops, with tips of Crawlers as the last resort when the farm animals deplete the minnow inventory.

Bunches of locations from Magee Marsh east that you can stop and grab your minnows cheap. (probably quite a bit cheaper than the shrimp)

Nice job Chris. You're making my decision for this weekend much harder.

Sorry Brandon. It is tough to pass those smaller eaters up for another hour drive each way, especially when limits are that quick. I almost made the run to Lorain but my boy wanted to cast for some eyes and catch perch too. Lorain is still unknown water for me.

Hopefully I can get back up there this weekend.
