There is a company from N.Y. they bring all the equipment to your boat and install it sorry don't remember the name they were not only cheaper but they were the company that was going to do the work at a local marina only difference the marina was going to mark it up
$ 800-$1000 do your homework before you get it my quote I got was around $7800 from the marina .
$6800 from the installation company direct i will look for there # tomorrow

Thank you I'm in the process of doing my homework right now I believe there is another outfit and it may be the same one you're speaking of called Vetus where they can come and install it also. Did you get yours done yet?

One of the guys in my boat club has a stern thruster on their 27' Sportcraft. I believe Sutherland's in Ashtabula installed it. He really likes it as it makes backing into his dock alot easier.[/

I highly recommend installing a bow thruster. My 27' Sportcraft Inboard came with one that was installed and I can't imagine maneuvering in tight spaces without one. Also have the stern thruster. I can spin on a 360 degree turn without engine power. Both were installed by previous owner. I'd never attempt to make that install without professional help.

I called him this morning he said $4800
For everything hose, wiring ,controls, thruhaul fittings ect... and an additional $1800 for the stern
He said it was easy to install.
I was going to get my bow thruster installed I went to a marina I won't say the name and while looking around I saw a bowthruster being worked on so I went and took a look it had a 4"crack around the tube and it was only a year or 2 from installation I asked if they warranty their work and he said no because of the hauls flexibility and how hard you push the boat that they can not guarantee it won't crack (it was the same boat i have )at that point i hit the breaks. I dont push my boat hard but have been in big waves that occasionally slam the boat everyone who fishes Erie regularly has at one point or another. I listened to another ogfer and good friend (privateer) that said wait 1 year(season) to see if the bowthruster is a need or a want at that point then decide now of course I have made it through the season and it is not a need .
Unless I was to backup into my dock then I would prefer to have it. But I am still undecided yes it would be nice but not a must have and my boat is 29' single screw. Hope this helps
