We caught one almost exactly that size couple weeks ago. Right across from the boat tamp on Fishinger. It was at night, at first we thought it was a monster bass but it didn't fight like a bass. Nice fish.
Nice! I get most of mine off of abrupt drops. Like they just sit there and wait for food to come by. Couple of spillways with this feature and the flatties stack up right there.
I caught a small one up by the island Sunday also. I think Dale got one too. The last few years more and more have been caught there. Seems like after they fixed the problem of Dublin dumping into the river we started seeing more caught. We are not fishing for them. I wonder how someone would do if they fished just for flatheads. I have caught a couple around the high bluff wall. I think thats where other have caught them in that area of the river.
I also got a nice one a few weeks ago on a jig fishing the G/O tourney
Thought for a second I was going to get a check for big bass and then she took off and realized it was no bass! They seem to be doing really well in the river.
