A buddy and his dad always do well in Kansas every year

 

You don’t see a lot of typical 8 pts. that make 140 (Ohio Big Buck Club). They have to be clean, have good tine length, spread, and circumference and no deductions to take away from score. To score 170, that is exceptional! That is a great Kansas buck.

 

Mind sharing the score sheet. Not questioning you. Curious what measurements need to be for a 8 point to score 170. Thanks

 

12.5” tines, 1-7” brow, 1-7.75”,22” inside spread, 40” mass, 22” beams. Don’t know the age. I would guess 4.5-5.5

 

I think I'd rather kill a 170" eight point than a junky 200" gross deer. While both are awesome once in a lifetime deer that 8 point is much rarer than a 200" deer .

 

I too wouldn’t mind seeing the score sheet. That is a one in a million 8 pt.

What qualifies this to be considered in the perfect category vs typical? Does a rack have to have a minimum amount of deductions to be considered perfect?

 

This buck should be in the “ Typical” not “ Perfect “ category. It has 2% irregularities.
The “ Perfect “ category requires 0-1%. The “ Typical” category requires 1.1-5.5%.
