Makes three of us ... and I'm NOT paying $8 per bale!!! Some dealers are bringing in semi loads from Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. and pricing it to see just what the market will bear. These are the same guys that complained the loudest about price gouging when gas stations posted their $3.49 per gallon signs!

Good Luck to you guys. I have a family relation who sells about 8-10,000 bales a year. I asked him and he is afraid HE will have to buy hay to fill customers orders. He has 5 farms all in hay and doesn't think he will have enough.

If anyone finds a deal let me know... my sister has a friend that has some at 3 a bale in washington,pa but thats a 4hr drive so with gas and pulling the hills loaded it will bump that price up. I might be able to get it at 2.50 and I am having her check that out. like I said if someone finds a deal let me know. I was trying to keep my drive at 100 miles any direction from cincinnati. at this point I will take some good grass hay as long as it is not real weedy.and some round bales will work also. thanks guys

You picked up some saddles from me a while back near Hartville, O. There seems to be plenty of hay(grass/alfalfa mix) in this area from anywhere $3-$4.25. Perhaps you and the other guy from Cinci in the post after yours could
rent a big truck or trailer? and make the drive over here. PM me if you'd like a couple phone numbers. Might have another lead in Attica, O.

    Biteme,

A big part of why you have no hay is why you will likely pay $5-7.50 for good hay this year (timothy/mixed will be less)...lack of rain-especially early when the 2nd cutting makes a big portion of the crop. The increased demand from all the horse farms that have popped up in the past 10 years only increases the demand. My Father-in-Law just sold all of his 3rd cut alfalfa, but will have 4th cutting soon. Probably will sell before it's baled. If he has any available, I'll post quantity and price.

    Tim

Guy i play cards with said he was getting $6 a bale. One lady who picked some up from him said he was selling it too cheap. Other farmers up this way were getting $8 a bale for it. I don't know anything about it except I'm glad I don't have to buy any. good luck.
