    Probably not!

Is anyone else following the Large Hadron Collider in France/Switzerland? I have been for a few years, and it is finally going online this wednesday!

    Really fascinating stuff.

If you don't know what I am talking about, here is one of the scientists working at CERN rapping about the program:

  3. I guess if it does, we'll never really know...right?

If so, i guess i can quit worrying about my TNT standings. LOL

The lawsuit nuts said the same thing about the older collider in the US.

Like they know more than the physicists.

The prevailing emotion would be one of nostalgia for those left behind, combined with a bold curiosity for the adventure ahead! AhaaaH!

+1 FOSR for the Dr. Strangelove reference!!!

For what it is worth I don't think anything bad will happen with the LHC. I believe particles are smashing together in nature all the time in much the same manner. So far nothing has hap

Thanks - but do you know there was an effort to build something like it here? Look up "superconducting supercollider"

...a little doughnut for the upper Scioto watershed...

    And how it shook out...

then why post it in the first place,if you know that?
why do some of you insist on posting stupid remarks when you know you're wrong and breaking the rules?
maybe you should reread those rules and the possible consequences for habitually breaking them;)

You know, some days I wake up and say to myself "You know, if a black hole (mini or otherwise) wants to swallow the world today, who am I to stand in the way of progress?" The other days I wake up and go fishing.

well, at the very least I get some satisfaction that there are a few people in this world I wouldn't mind being compressed into a quantum singularity with (again).

Been following this as well, this type of thing interest me. I'll be the first to admit I don't completely understand what they heck they are doing, it sounds to me like there is some amazing technology being put to work and there is an amazing wealth of knowledge to be learned from it.

I knew it was going to get dinged and that's fine. I throw myself on the mercy of the mods.

I think there are compelling arguments on both sides. All I know is I don't side with this guy:

yup, sounds like the initial tests went well. The real test will be when they start colliding protons. I'm positive we'll be ok, though ;)
