what is it?

  1. i caught a fish in the ohio one time at rayland and it was all white, pointed tail, red eyes and teeth. what is it?

    I hope this is a joke, cause I've spent to much time trying to figure out what the heck you're talking about :D

    Sounds like a mooneye to me....about the same as a skipjack, only looks like a tropical fish.

    Ah, very good thought Mrfish. Another option could be Goldeye .Althought I beleive its endangered in Ohio making the probability that it was a Mooneye that much more likely.

    The way to differenciate between the two is by lining up the anal fin with the dorsal fin. Mooneyes have dorsal fins that are behind the anal fin when you look at the fish laying on its side. Goldeyes with either be paralell to the anal fin or a hair ahead of it.
