West Branch Walleye ?

Discussion in 'Northeast Ohio Fishing Reports' started by Zanini, Aug 30, 2004.

  1. Hi all,

Is anyone catching walleye at west branch these days? I was there a few weeks ago, and only fished for bass. I got a few, but the water is going away and with it... my grass. :(

I'd like to try my luck at walleye, but I'm a bit clueless.

  2. Water came back up every bit it dropped in the past weeks. The problem now will be muddy water for a while.

  3. The water was indeed back up a bit. I got two small keeper LM in the boat and missed another. I also caught a small pike on a craw colored -1. The bites came on a white buzz, and the spinner and tube struck out. The water was stained, but suprisingly clear. I expected it to be much darker.

I also saw a guy catch what looked like a 6 or 7 pound LM from the bank using "chubs". I think they were fishing for pike, but he had to settle for the biggest bass he'd ever landed. He was taking it home for dinner.

  4. Great to hear. Now it looks like the water is settling out a bit and gonna slowly draw back down. I can see a few stumps over by 14 ramp and last weekend after those rains I could not.
