I hauled my car top boat to the headwaters of Dillon Reservoir a week ago hoping to do some sight fishing (fly fishing) for carp. They were there, but the water clarity in that part of the reservoir (where the Licking comes in) was zilch - about a half inch of visibility. Is that typical for that reservoir? The river not too far upstream was a bit off color, but too bad.

Can anybody recommend some other places where there are some nice shallow flats, either on Dillon or some other centrally-located reservoirs?

I'm catching all the carp I want on small streams, but I'd like to do some fishing for some open water fish.

Many thanks,
