this is big news on the west coast(not that it wasnt "known" it just hadnt been studied enough)
maybe fisheries managers will realize that the old idea of hatcheries over habitat wont work and they will start working towards conserving our resources and not viewing them in terms of CPUE and minimum escapments...but I doubt that. atleast someone went out and did a good study on the subject. I wonder if this holds true for other hatchery raised fish, bass and channel cats, or just anadromous fishes

luckily we dont have to worry about these things on ohio, we have incredible fishing and no rearing habitat for steelhead, so weather or not the fish are fit for reproduction they cant anyway
