Walborn, Deer Creek, Spillways

Discussion in 'Northeast Ohio Fishing Reports' started by Frog Legs, Mar 30, 2008.

  1. Looked for Crappie saturday (3/29). Hit Walborn on the north end by the pipe and the Walborn spillway. Got :S , not even a nibble. Went to the Berlin Causeway, saw one guy with two crappie. Checked the Berlin spillway, water still chocolate and running hard. Stopped by Deer Creek. Had one bite, one fish, 4lb bass, returned to the lake. NO CRAPPIE......

Threw maribou's, slow retrieve, and minnows under a bobber.....

  2. Legs, soon, soon. That jig/bobber setup is my favorite rig for crappie. I've caught tons of em with that while wading shallow bays-just not quite this early. That combination will outfish minnows 3-1 under normal conditions! Could be because you cover more water while reeling where minnow guys usually tend to throw out and let it sit. I love marabou jigs.

  3. I started using Marabous last year and fell in love with them. I like how you look for the feel on ultralite setups. Great crappie and whitebass lure....

I know that it's early. It was just great to get outside....
