USB port

Discussion in 'Computing & Gaming Discussions' started by pymybob, Jan 8, 2005.

  1. I also have a USB port in the front of my machine that will not recognize anything. Anyone know how I would troubleshoot this? Thanks!

  2. It's probably just not hooked up at all. That would be the first step, just identifying whether or not it's actually plugged into to anything. To do that take off the cover and follow it back to the motherboard to see if it's plugged in...

  3. It probably is not turned on in the bios config. I can give you a hand with this and your cd burner some evening this week. Give me a shout if you need help.

pymy....like TB said, make sure the cable from that port to your motherboard is connected. If it is, then your problem is either that it's disabled in your bios like leeabu said, or your USB Root Hub driver is corrupted in Windows. I assume your USB ports in the rear work?

  5. Yea Shakedown, my rear USB ports are fine. Once I "pop the hood" on my CPU, I'll let you know what I find. Thanks!
