Trolling Motor Wire Question

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by jeffrobodeen, Sep 13, 2008.

  1. I'm installing a plug on my trolling motor, and the plug will be located only a foot or so from the motor. The motor comes with fairly long leads, and I was
wondering if coiling the additional wire would cause any issues,(heat) or should I cut the wire to length? I thought I'd like to keep the wire intact,
in case there were any issues down the road. (rewiring the boat, etc..)
    Any info's appreciated.

You should be fine leaving the wiring long. I did that with one of my boats and never had a problem. The wire that comes with the plugs is heavy enough to handle the current without any problems.
