Told you NOT to trust Gov'r Taft or Mr. Sam Speck

1. 1st to admin...

I tried several times to post this under the thread for
Officials Propose First Parking Fees For State Parks
on the main page but kept getting the following error:
You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.
Images include use of smilies, the vB code tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

Thus here are my additional comments that are very important for those who still want to contact their Senator or Mr. Sam Speck Director of the ODNR who along with Gov'r Taft have been trying to pull a fast over our heads as you'll read in the following email I rec'd and the link in same...

Dear Mr. Burrie Jr.,

Thank you for responding to my email regarding your concerns about the proposed Parks Pride Passes. I appreciate the time you have taken to express your opposition to the pass plan. As a member of JCARR, I will have the opportunity to consider this issue during the March 7 meeting.

I do not support the parking fee as a way to fill the hole in the operating budget proposed by the governor. When ODNR Director Speck met with the JCARR members, we were told that this would be an additional funding source for the parks, above and beyond GRF funding. Unfortunately, it seems the governor and ODNR are trying to pass the lack of general revenue funding onto park users. I disagree with this course of action because it circumvents legislative input in the established budgeting process. In addition, Senator Tim Grendell has introduced Senate Bill 47, to block implementation of the fee. I have included a link to SB 47 for your reference. I hope that this information will be of help to you. Please feel free to contact my office with any additional concerns.

It is a pleasure to serve you and represent the 28th District in the Ohio Senate.

Sincerely,

KIMBERLY A. ZURZ

Senator, 28th District

***********************************************************
I told everyone that the Gov'r would try to take funds away from the ODNR and that is his what he plans to do... Those who liked this proposal still like it? The parks will not be improved at all...

Thank you Clyde. I got a similar response.

In addition, i was sent a letter from the director of ODNR pretty much stating that my opposing the fee was in the minority and that they had no other choice and they were moving forward regardless of my opinion. I likened it to a "Dear John" letter.

3. Is this really news to anyone? They said two years ago that the state planned on taking money from the ODNR.

4. hahahaa Thats too funny

The money they took away was the money the state had been re-embursing the ODNR for the free hunting/fishing license program for seniors. Taft ended that program and it is a sad fact...
Infact yes it is... This proposal was to help fund the State Park System not completely fund it or to take out of the budget what it takes in!!!

Guys, I think you all know how I feel about this subject. But lets just let it go. I believe we all can see that's it's going to happen. Nothing will change until we have a change in goverment. I really think your just beating a dead horse here. There has been way to many threads started about this the last few months and It's time we just let it die, please!

6. I'll even drink to the end (I hope) of this subject.

7. The issue is not settled and its not a done deal...
Senators have already issued an amendment that will come before a vote to stop the issue in its tracks and the more people involved by emailing, calling or snail mailing their Senators will help... Telling anyone that it is a done deal gives the wrong impression... I really can't and don't understand why anyone would want to stop this thread at all... If you don't want to help or comment then simply don't look at the thread... hmnmnmn
It seems to me that trying to end this on this forum is wrong and not within the boundaries of the intent of this forum which I also think is to keep members up to date on issues that will affect the way things are done in this state concerning sportsmen...

Clyde, go read what I posted. No where did it say we'll end this thread or did I say stop talking about it. What I did say was we have had enough thread started about this subject on here. Why do we need several? I too am quite up on this subject, most likely more than most members on the site. I have stopped posting because all we got was complaints about the poor state parks budgets. I even removed a few post I made. Think back Clude, you know how I feel about this!! The decission has been made no matter how much they re-word it. Again I never said anywhere to drop your voice to the state or who ever else you want to complain to, I did say we've had enough threads about this subject. I'll say this I really hope it does get thrown out,but we all know that's going to be very hard to have happen. Keep fighting and good luck.

9. I WORK FOR A CITY AND GETTING ANYTHING DONE IS LIKE PULLIN TEETH! EVERY MOVE AND EVERY PENNY IS COUNTED FOR. TO SAY ONE
PERSON OR EVEN A COUPLE WILL CHANGE THINGS IS KINDA FAR FETCHED.
IT TAKES A MAJORITY AS ANYTHING ELSE TO CHANGE SOMETHING. IM NOT A LAW WIZ BUT I DO THINK ALSO THAT THIS THREAD SHOULD BE ALOUD TO BE CONTINUED TO RUN. NO MATTER THE OUTCOME IT WILL AFFECT ALL OF US AND THE NEWS DOESNT TELL U MUCH. THE TURKEY HUNTER HAS BROUGHT UP MORE INFO THAN TV. :) WHAT HAPPENS NEXT MONTH WHEN SOMEONELSE GETS SOME INFO?!

10. Its Always Nice To Click On! :)

11. ohh... I thought you guys wanted us to stop talking about it period... By stating let it die I just took it other then you intended...
My bad Dale I am sorry man...
I did not want to start a new thread but as posted above I could not post in the one that is on the mian page...
THANKS for understanding I DO NOT want to be any kind of a problem...

Clyde not a problem man at all. Again you know my thoughts from day one. Glad we're seeing it the same now.

13. I have to agree with atrkyhntr. It seems to me that every body in our present day society just says , "Oh Well".
With out becoming rabid I would like to say enough is enough. I will take the first ticket I get to and go court. Then I will see how constitutional this law is."Enough is Enough".
Does anybody think that $25.oo is going to ruin you. Thats not the point.

14. It was never an issue of the fee with me as much as it was about I had a gut feeling Taft would somehow take the money away from the ODNR to use in the states budget and that is what he wants to do... If this program would make the State Parks 1 mil he will subtract 1 mil from the ODNR annual budget and then we're back to square one and maybe more then $25.00 a year...
It is not a good deal now and before it would have been tolerable at best...

Clyde,

Keep active on it man. I was always taught to fight for what you think is right, or fight to change what you believe is wrong. Look at September 11........the US could have just said "well, things will happen.....so we'll just let it go". Did we do that? No.....we fought for what we needed to . The government is only as good as what their electors are. If the voters sit back and do not get active or stay involved, the lawmakers don't care and will do what they want. BUT......if you start contacting them via email, telephone, postal mail, etc.....then they realize that if they want your vote in the upcoming elections, they better vote the way the majority wants. That's the way politics work. If a candidate or incumbant tried to do what was best for the area they preside over, rather than go with the polls......they wouldn't survive another term. If the people are happy.......they have a job. If the people are upset.......who's hiring?

But back on the subject......it's not a done deal until it's been signed and put into law. There is plenty of room for change. Keep active......do what is right.....and I'm sure you'll have the support of most people and sportfishermen. I don't know about you, but the DNR hasn't contacted me to find out what I think about the issue? Have they to anyone else? How do they get their numbers that a majority is for the parking fees without contacting the people who will pay those fees? Just doesn't add up to me.

16. I'll keep up the good fight but will do so in a honerable way... If it does not turn out like I hope it won't be for lack of effort on my part but the part of others who for one reason or another simply sat on the sidelines...
All that is needed is to have Senate Bill 47 passed to close the loop hole that has allowed Taft & Speck the chance to push this through without debate from voters or elected officials that represent same...

Clyde,

Might be an opportunistic way to contact TV, Radio, Newspaper, magazine, etc....urging them to announce to the public to contact their representatives to voice their comments and opinions, for or against the issue. Other than online, I haven't seen much around here on the matter.

18. I have done just that but they must be in the Gov'rs back pocket because I have not had one single reply or even an acknowledgment that they rec'd my messages... I have contacted every Senator and rec'd replies from 90+% of them and that is where we will get our help from... Have you contacted any? Go to the mainpage and copy/paste their emails into your email program and then copy/paste the same email I sent out ;)

Ive sent emails with about the same replies. Another thought........tomorrow morning, I believe starting at 5:00AM-9:30AM. Bob Conners on 610 AM in Columbus. He has open phones radio. You can talk about any topic you wish. They have a HUGE audience on Saturday mornings. 1-800-610-WTVN You seem to be more up to date on the topic than I, otherwise I would give them a ring.
