Glad to see you back this morning. Great selections as usual.
Too many legends there to let pass by. And on a Saturday. Takes too much time trying to do it everyday. Reading a few articles on each, editing images, checking facts, picking which good videos will work here really adds up. Like a part time job that pays $0

What a gift Whitney had and she could play her vocal instrument like no other! Just one of many of her performances that give me chills. Beautiful lady.

Thank you for the kind words @$diesel$. Being a somewhat decent cook at 15-16 years old, I soon discovered that girls loved a guy that could cook... and put on some Marvin Gaye, Elvis, Bee Gees, Foreigner, Little River Band or such..and it was a done deal ;). Amazing how spoiled (as far as music) kids are today with just about everything for free now in a matter of seconds. My fairly extensive collection has migrated from albums/cassettes/vhs tapes to cd's/dvd's over the years to now everything is saved on a single portable hard drive plugged into the tv/stereo system. Much of my early stuff is from downloading bootleg (live) work in the early days of the internet. At one time Ebay was full of bootleg material. Bought, sold or traded hundreds of albums/cd's back then.
I laugh now at when it was dial-up internet, setting up a single song before school or work and hoping it would finish downloading in 7 or 8 hours  The attached image is what I keep in the truck/car. Not big on cellphone use, or paying for music streaming services. There are close to 1,200 cd's (no video) on these four usb drives. The actual cd's themselves fill a 6 foot tall, 3 foot round carousel type holder in the main room. Of course there's the argument that digital files like this don't sound as "good"....probably so. But for real listening, that's what the home setup is for (y)

your tower of CD's sounds like my cabinet of 45's.
Had my fair share. Just back then, when I'd transfer something,(or download) I would sell the older. Can't bring myself to sell the cd's. Run a vintage Yamaha (Japan made, not by you know who) cd player that sounds great.
...Mom taking her and dad's shared collection of albums/45's when they divorced didn't help

Only speaking the truth, brother. I am somewhat like you in that i like several types of music, my favorites are the old R/B. Marvin was and is a favorite.
My buddy's, 2 brothers, were raised around music as was i. The little tavern where i hang out is musically run by these guys as they are both musicians and keep the juke box going with song like you've posted.
When one asks who made a particular song, one or the other of these guys WILL answer it.

Keep up the good work and i'm glad i found your Lounge posts. 🤙

The infamous concert where Jim Morrison of The Doors allegedly exposes himself onstage takes place March 1, 1969 in Miami (not to be confused with the "67 incident in New Haven, Connecticut where Jim was arrested onstage). Pretty much downhill from here for he and the group. In September of '70, Morrison was found guilty of two misdemeanors, the felony was thrown out. While the case was being appealed, he died in Paris July 3, 1971. He was pardoned in 2010.
No video footage of the Miami show exists. There are full audio recordings of the show available.
The closest video to that date is from April 28, '69.. recorded for the PBS special "Critique"..

Karen Anne Carpenter was born March 2, 1950 in New Haven, Connecticut. She passed February 4, 1983 in Downey, California. Tough one to take here, personally. Serious crush on her as a young boy growing up. And their music was always playing in the house. She was "getting better" and putting on some weight when she died. Her heart was just in too bad of shape by then, reportedly beating only six times a minute that day  Richard is still staying busy and recording new work.

Karen's loss was an absolute shame. Looks like Bon had a love for Wendy's.🤣 Great selections!
Bon had disappeared from backstage a couple hours prior to that appearance. It was the groups first big break on Australian tv, so they were really sweating it. None of them knew what he was up too. Those laughs from the other boys in the group are genuine. Bon knew it would loosen them up  Prior to AC-DC he wore his hair on his chin. With "Fraternity" doing The Band's "The Shape I'm In" 1971.

Heck, gotta do another Karen song. Not much in the way of anniversaries/history on this date..
