I got ya by a few years. Same here. Notice the title is 50's-80's  Seems tv and radio were better when there were only a couple choices as compared to the hundreds today. Some great free channels using an internet radio setup also.

Steve Cropper, from Booker T & the MG's played lead guitar on both Sam & Dave & Blues Brothers version of Soul Man. One of the best "session" guitarists in music history. He is still playing too
Love it. Donald "Duck" Dunn also played (bass) with Cropper in The Mar-Keys, Booker T. and the MG's, The Blues Brothers Band and Sam and Dave. More or less the house band at Stax records. Legends, both of them. "Duck" passed in 2012.

Steppenwolf's John Kay (Joachim Fritz Krauledat) was born on this date in 1944 Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany (now Russia). His childhood is eerily similar to the current, never ending, situation in that region. Still out hitting the road occasionally.
