Tire size help

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by rustyfish, Jul 23, 2004.

  1. Im getting new tires for my jeep and i am about to go nutz.
It came with 215/75/15 and i want to go just a little larger but not to much because my 4 cyl. cant handle it. I have been thinking about some 225 0r 235/ 85. But most of what i am finding is in like 27-35. Now im guessing 27's and 28's are around the same as 225 or 235's but im not sure. I have not been able to find a conversion chart that i understand. could someone help me?

i went to 31x10.5 on my jeep.i have a 4.0 liter so the power wasn't really an issue.they fit on the stock wheels okay.i wouldn't worry too much about the size you're looking at.any larger and you may need to change out the ring and pinion gearing so the 4cylinder can handle it.
check with a jeep dealer to make sure though.

You can go up to the 225 with no problem on your Jeep.
That is what I run on mine.
If you go much larger your speedometer will be inaccurate.
