Striped Bass

Discussion in 'Fishing Reports - Out of State' started by BIgbassin07, Jul 31, 2007.

  1. anyone know where to fish for these on the east coast? i am headed to myrtle beach soon but not sure if these fish inhabit that area.. an info would be helpful
  2. You can catch them near some sort of structure in tidal rivers, they can be in salt or fresh water, and many states stock them in inland fresh water ponds and lakes. Check the state dnr website for info.

  3. Large coastal (saltwater) stripers are rarely found south of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and then the bigger stripers are only there in the winter months (November thru Feb). Right now most of the bigger stripers are along the norhteast coast (off Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York).

You may be able to find some smaller "schoolie" stripers in the bays and estuaries. Your best bet is to talk with local guides and bait shop owners and see what's hitting down there this time of year.
