Did they stock steelhead smoltz in 2007...I believe the transporting law due to the VHS spread prevented it to happen.

If it was 2007 then we should see a below par return for 2009? Does that sound right to you all?

    Thanks,

  2. They definitely stocked the rivers in 2007. The ban didn't affect the stocking at all. In fact, they are doing more to now raise the smolts at Castalia in a few years if it ever becomes an issue.

  3. Archman is correct. They are raising the fish (steelies) at Castalia.

Also, last year when I was up there, I talked with teh fisheries director there. He said they are also doing some experiments trying to figure out some way to neutralize the virus in controlled situations so fish that are transported across State lines MAY be "cleaned" and the virus destroyed. He got way too technical for my damaged brain to understand, but they are doing research.

Hopefully, they'll be able to figure something out.

Thanks guys, that's great news. It's been such a great return didn't want to take a few steps back...

I'm gonna try throwing some hardware down at the Rock this weekend.
