Statewide Boating Advisory Issued while Water Levels Remain High
    Columbus, OH-
A statewide boating advisory has been issued for all Ohio inland lakes, rivers, and streams due to recent storms that have pushed water levels higher throughout most of the state, according to the Ohio department of Natural Resources. The advisory will remain in affect until water levels begin to return to normal or near-normal conditions.
Boaters should be aware that swift currents, floating debris and other hazards to navigation increase with high water levels. They should pay particular attention to any area that may be designated with flash flood watches and warnings as issued by the National Weather service. Any rivers or streams that have reached near flood stage or higher should be avoided.
Boat launch ramps may be temporarily closed at some inland lakes and rivers. Boaters should call ahead before visiting any area where they plan to launch a boat to determine what conditions and availability of boat ramp facilities.
All boaters should use extra caution and follow safe boating practices, including properly wearing a life jacket when boating on any body of water.
