Last Sat/Sun St. Marys crappie bite showing some promise. No crappies caught since early July in our southside channel but now coming around. Fishing less than 1.5 hours, caught an 8", one 9", and a slab 11 incher. Action isn't hot and heavy but when they bite the bait is inhaled.

Target brush and docks. 2 larger ones caught on larger minnow (bass size). Smaller crappie took a 1 3/4 inch jig in black/white combo. On a pure white jig, neighbor coaxed a 14" chunk onto shore. We've heard but not tried solid black tubes also productive. All fish taken in less than 3' water - lake level down 2' from early summer. Bite should continue to improve with cooling water temp.

Try turd black and toilet paper white color combo. I guess the fish like something they can recognize.
Crappie bite was the same past Sat & Sun (19th-20th)........black and white tube jigs, brush and docks, 3' of water, in the channels. Of 1/2 dozen crappies caught over 2 hours, all but one 9-10 inches and chunky. Tubes produced 4, large minnows produced 2. Rare to catch more than one from a single spot.
