Squirrels by boat

  1. Went out last Saturday. Wow! It was COLD! The squrriels were active. If the lake wasn't so far down, we would have had more shots...
  2. That's a heck of a good idea. I've contemplated floating the river for squirrels, but I'd have to "trespass" to recover them. A lake where hunting is permitted is a good idea.

I've always used a .22 for squirrels because they have such precious little meat. How bad does your shotgun mess them up (if at all)?

  3. Those fox squirrels are tough. I use #4 shot. It does not do much damage at the usual distances. Sometimes you have to let them run a bit when they pop up right in front of you.
  4. Ha! Never thought of that. What are the requirements for shooting out of a boat? Do you need to be anchored, pushed on shore etc?
