Sanchez in, Bradford out

Discussion in 'Sports Talk' started by Snakecharmer, Jan 15, 2009.

  1. I see the USC QB Sanquez declared for the draft and the Oklahoma QB Bradford is staying in college to try for another Heisman but probably he was afraid of becoming a Detroit Lion LOL.....

Hopefully someone will fall in love with Sanchez and cause a better player to drop to the Browns. I can't think of a NFL QB who started 1 year in college and then became a servicable or better QB within 3 or 4 years...I know the NE QB Casals didn't play in college but he did have alot of practice time before replacing Brady...I don't know how they can afford to play top 10 money for a guy and have him sit for 2-3 years or worst have him try to learn the position on the field...

  2. Did he declare after Bradford decided to stay??? he might have moved up a spot or two once Bradford decided to come back, at least we wont see him in the shoe this fall.

Yea Sanchez decided to enter the draft after Bradford decided to come back. Smart move on his part because he just might challenge Stafford for the top QB selected.

If the Browns don't make any trades to change their picks as they are now, I would like to see them get Curry with 1st rd pick and Lesean McCoy with their 2nd rnd pick. I'm would also speculate that Bradford didn't want to become a Lion and that Sanchez saw his stock rise so he made the jump. I can see Stafford to Detroit and Sanchez to KC or St Louis.

To bad OSU CB McDonald made the jump.

  5. Sanchez isn't a top 10 guy. Guaranteed.

  6. Yeah...you guys are crazy to think Sanchez is going this high.

  7. I agree Sanchez isn't a top 10 pick. He might go higher this year than if he were to stay for his senior season, though. Good news for the Buckeyes next September 12th.

I never said Sanchez was going to go top 10. All I said was he might challenge Stafford for the top QB selected.

Critter, are you talking about OSU CB Donald Washington? Just curious...I didn't know who McDonald was, unless that is some type of nickname I didn't know about.

  10. Anybody see Percy Harvin of Fla as a Eric Metcalf type player? Might be a second round option to bolster the Browns offense. Based on the different draft previews websites I scoured, It looks like there is a bunch of guys that could go from 5 to 20...I've seen Beanie projected that high and low and even ReyMaluga (sp)was down to 17 th on 1 site...Hopefully the Browns will drop back and get more picks if there are no clear cut picks.

Yeah, I meant Washington. I don't know why I had McDonald in my head. I may have been hungry when I posted that. ;)

The Browns already have one of the top return specialists in the league and you are suggesting they burn a 2nd round pick on a "Metcalf" type player?

  13. Well, since Stafford is a shoe-in for Detroit, if Sanchez is going to challenge him for the top QB selected that kind of implies he'd be a top 10 pick.

His Rose Bowl performance makes him more valuable, and he may even go in the 1st round, but anywhere inside of 15 and I'd be shocked.

  14. I see Percy Harvin as Peter Warrick, the sequel. I think he'll be your typical late first round receiver that some team regrets taking.

  15. Sanchez, just like all the other USC quarterbacks are overrated and products of their system. They are unbelieveable in college because of the talent they have around them. They have done nothing impressive in the NFL. Look at the past 4 quarterbacks...

Palmer has been beat up and the only one who has put up any type of numbers. Heisman Trophy Winner

Leinhart, highly drafted, lowly BUST! There is only one word I can think of that describes Leinhart's performance thus far...TERRIBLE! Heisman Trophy Winner

John David Booty, 5th Round pick, back-up with the Vikings, right where he needs to be.

On average, these quarterbacks started roughly 40 games while at USC. Sanchez only started 16 games at USC...can you say DRAFT BUST of 2009?

  16. Fish - they may not be great Sunday players, but they are all rich:)

I think it was smart for Dirty Sanchez to declare this year. Too many good experienced QBs in the draft next year - not so many this year. He is coming off a great season and has the momentum of winning the Rosebowl where he looked good. The pros think highly of the guy and I would have to agree. He is more athletic than he appears, has a good arm & can make all the throws, and he is a smart guy.

I think even with another good year @ SC he wouldn't earn any more money next year - so why chance an injury or risk slipping even further. He's a 1st round pick and he will cash his check. If I were him I would make the same move.

Well, if you look at all the boards a decent amount of people have him ahead of Stafford. Also I think Detroit should go OT with their pick. Stafford wont help them at all if they cant protect him. But that's a different discussion.

  18. two words - Donte Stallworth.

I think Metcalf was a decent 2nd round pick for the Browns. I remember 3 years ago Percy was labeled as the next big thing in the OSU /FL nat title game but I haven't followed him in his career. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on him as the Browns certaining need to upgrade their passing attack. If he's a Metaclf I'd take him but I don't follow FL or saw any of their games so I was looking for an opinion.
Plus if the Browns get a new return man (say for punts) that may allow Cribbs to move to safety which would certainly get him on the field more. Just an idea....He's a helluva tackler of which the Browns have few....

Harvin is unbelievably fast and he got a lot of touches at FL running the ball and WR screens. He's a deep threat because of his speed but, in my opinion, has a lot of work to do to develop into a good NFL reciever. Can help in the return game right away but as mentioned the Browns already have Cribbs. Will probably be a good possession reciever.

  20. Do you guys remember Peter Warrick, Desmond Howard, Rocket Ismail, etc? Percy Harvin is eerily similar to those guys in my book.
