Salt Fork Cats??

Discussion in 'Catfish Discussion' started by FlippinStick, Jun 21, 2005.

  1. Heading up to Salt Fork for a week long trip, in a few days here. Have never been there and i'm not really sure how the catfishing is there. Haven't seen much hype about any cats being caught up there. Primarily looking to go after the bigger cats but channels are fun too. So help with any general area to fish and what bait fish to use (dead/alive?) would be appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Not for sure as I do not fish Salt fork, but I think you have very bad timing this year as the cats will be in spawn mode. Check the boards in the local forum - I know there are guys that have been fishing it lately. The bite gets awful tough during this time period - good luck!

Just look for cover and deep water.......the normal stuff for cats.......the lake is down a little and continues to drop, so it is off for me in my normal spots
