I fished Rushcreek last Thursday and caught a 15-16" largemouth on my very first cast. I'm thinking, "this is gonna be great!", but I didn't catch another after 3 hours of fishing. I did catch three dinks and a nice catfish just before dark.
I'm heading back tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes.
All I ever catch when bass fishing the north or east side is catfish. We have been catfihing Rushcreek a lot this year. The biggest cats that I have caught though, have been on a lipless crank or 4" gulp minnow on a scrounger jig while bass fishing! Posted via Mobile Device
I got a late start and didn't get onto the water until 5:30PM or so and fished until 8:00PM. I caught two decent bass (15-16") on back-to-back casts of a lipless crank across a point; a 12" dink and a keeper crappie on a swim bait; and the obligatory catfish on a 4" tube. The catfish was the biggest catch of the evening.
The shad were schooled up tightly and suspended. A couple of schools stretched across the entire sonar screen. I didn't see any on the surface accept for the occasional hopper.
If the low pressure system settles in in may be a 'catfishing' weekend.
