i have a 40 hp johnson 2 stroke w/ a 15 pitch prop. i have a 17 pitch prop that i would like to try out. i don't have a tach though. will i be able to tell if it is wrong for my motor. and how will it affect my idle speed for trolling? i know the top end will be faster.
  2. The only way to really be sure is to use a tach. There's one in the for-sale section. Also, I think you can get a Tiny Tach for about $40.
