Rod Holder Question

  1. Hello all,
I rec’d a sit-in kayak for Christmas and wish to set it up to do some fishing with. Which rod holder would be better to install, an internal flush mount (ie or an external mounted rod holder (

If you plan to fish on a creek, stream or river those flush mounts will do more harm than good. Nothing worse than approaching a riffle with trees and a rod sticking 6' up in the air. MAJOR PROBLEM! I definatley recommend getting a good deck mount holder that is adjustable so you can point the rods forward parallel to the water. I like the RAM series holders, but that's just me.

  3. Like CG said, forget the flush mounts and go with a Ram or Scotty holder. When I replace my Yak I will probably get 3 Scotty's. One in front and two behind the seat port and stargboard.
