Each year, MORPC organizes Riverfest, celebrating the local waters and educating kids about fish, fishing, boating, etc. It has been held in June along the Scioto, in North Bank Park.

Details page for the 2008 event:

This year they're taking a different approach, instead of one day and one location, they're spreading it out through the month of June, at several locations in the central Ohio area. This is still in the planning process.

So, is anyone in OGF interested in organizing some local event(s) together with FOSR or any of the other local watershed groups like FACT or FLOW? Maybe something showing basic fishing to kids, or maybe watercraft safety, or what kinds of fish are in the river, and how they live? Does OGF ever run a booth at festivals or other events?

This would be a GREAT even for OGF to be a part of.

The question is, what kind of event? It's up to us, we can make up something new if we want. Or if there's something that OGF has done before, there's still time to plan to do it again and tie it into the planning for Riverfest.
