Recommendations for a Canadian fishing trip?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by ohiou_98, Jun 12, 2007.

  1. My family and I would like to go to Canada next month for a week long fishing trip, but we have no idea where to go? (we plan on driving, so somewhere in Ontario.)

I'm looking for a place where we can rent a cabin on a lake, rent a boat for the week, fish, swim, etc. It would be nice to have a main lodge nearby for guide service.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated...

We have been here the last 3 years and are going back again this year.

Great people, great fishing for walleye and pike, great food if you eat in the lodge. It's a long drive but well worth it.

  3. We took the kids, 7 & 6 year olds, to Rice Lake last year for a few days. We are going back next month for a week. We stayed at Elm Grove Cottages, http://elmgrovecottages.com/ The owners are really nice, place is clean & well kept.

Other places to stay can be found using this website: http://www.ricelakecanada.com/

We caught gills, perch, bass (large/small mouth), pumpkin seed (looks like a bluegill). Didn't hook any walleye, but others in camp that week took some good size eyes. A group in the camp caught 145 panfish one morning.

The kids could fish from the dock whenever we werent out on the boat and they could swim.
