I am looking to purchase a Helix fish finder...

You can find the Helix 9Si gen. 1 at similar price to the helix 7si chirp g2.

For a bit larger screen is it worth going with the gen 1 helix? What are the main differences?

G2N allows you to network multiple units together. I have the 7si g2n and works great.

If you're going to buy the 9 I'd suggest buying the 10. Both units are the exact same size, but the 10 has a larger screen.
