Rapid Start

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by reel, May 30, 2008.

  1. Anyone try using "Rapid Ether Start" on their boat motor while out on the water ?

I know all about the dangers, fire hazard, illegal etc etc etc. But now and then a special emergency arises.

If someone has actually tried this, did you spray in at a removed spark plug or into the air intake ? ?

  2. I used it twice on my old boat. I removed the flame arrester and sprayed directly into the air intake. I placed the arrester back on the second time, as the first time I did it I had some flames shoot out as a result of backfire.

  3. Reel There is another thing that you can use also which is good for 2 cycles is WD 40 it is a good engine starter it also has a oil base wont hurt your motor.I have used it and it works good like rapid start. Tight Lines Fishguy

  4. If you have a 2 stroke you have to ALWAYS use a starting fluid with a lubricant or risk hosing your motor in the time it takes for it to fire up!
