Questions about Saugeye

Discussion in 'Southeast Ohio Fishing Reports' started by fishing_marshall, Dec 9, 2004.

  1. Right now the saugeyes are hitting at Piedmont dam. My first question is how long the bite will last. Will it last until the lake freezes? My other question is why is piedmont the only lake i have been hearing about saugeyes being caught.
Can you catch them from shore or by the dams at Atwood or Tappan this time of year?

    hey marshall
i believe you should be able to catch them at all the gatehouses. it is the current is what attracts them. you can catch them above or below. one reason you hear more about piedmont is it is just a more popular damm because of the physicals. tappan can also be fish from both sides of the gatehouse, clendening is only fishable from one side safely. as far as bite, all winter if it doesn't ice over. and the current is there.
