Pymie walleye week

Discussion in 'Northeast Ohio Fishing Reports' started by Huntinbull, May 20, 2007.

  1. I just returned from a 4 day fishing trip to Pymatuning. We go every year and troll for walleyes. The last few years the number of fish has dropped dramatically but the quality (size and weight) has risen. This year our trip had 15 guys on 5 boats. We caught maybe 12-13 walleye all week. Did manage to take a 25 inch 6.5 pound one though. average size was 16.5 and only 3 throwbacks (under 15 inches). Made for a dreary week. I broke out of our trolling rut and tried jigging, fishing 6-9 fow weedbeds early and late. Even tried for some crappie and bass and just had no luck. Figured it was the cold front/low pressure. Even Friday barelyturned the fish on and then only till 12 or so when the wind got going.

Just an update on my fishing (not catching) trip.
