Ohio stopped due to a lack of funding and that is was supposedly a temporary program anyways (unverified). The last time Ohio stocked muskie there was two years ago. I started a petition to get the stockings reinstated but was basically told by the ODNR to go pound sand.
The problem with PA's stocking program is that they release smaller fingerlings, which means a higher mortality rate and thus less adult fish. MI is looking into donating to the Lineville hatchery to provide for more food for the fingerlings. This would enable them to be held until they achieve a larger size and hopefully, lower mortality.
