Private Pond Fun

  1. Fished a private pond in Ashland today with a friend. Managed 3 gills the hole day, I also missed about 5 more. All in All it was fun.

I have a quick question though! Why does the ice very in thickness close to the edges and in the middle on a pond? It was 10-12 inches in the middle, and so thin it was cracking on the sides? It's about 5 acres btw!

Because the ground warms on sunny days transfering heat to the ice edges...
    its very common.

  3. just wait til you see guys using ladders or boards to get onto the ice from shore.
  4. Nice, ok, logical explanation!

Look out for the inches of rain this weekend, yuk!
