Presque Isle 12/28

Discussion in 'Hard Water Discussions' started by Steelhauler, Dec 28, 2004.

  1. I hit PI this morning for a few hours. There is anywhere from 4"-6" of ice. I didn't do as well as I hoped I would. I caught a bunch of dink Perch and 3 keeper gills and that was it. The bite was real light and that was probably my downfall. I still haven't picked up a shanty and the wind was brutal today. It made it very hard to detect a bite. Most of the Perch came from 12' of water straight out from the 2nd parking lot. The gills came from 6' of water on the far side of the bay a little West of the garage (I was trying to hide from the wind). I did talk to quite a few guys that weren't doing much better than I was, so it may have just be one of those days.

On the bright side, I pulled my Lowrance M68c out of the boat and used it in flasher mode. It worked like a champ. I was watching all of those little dinks coming up off of the bottom for my jig. It's kind of nice to have one unit that I can use all year.

If the weather holds up, I may give it another shot on Friday.
