Don't expect Piedmont to be any easier. I don't fish for bass so much but for saugeye and it's been rough. I've been seeing the most fish on the sonar 12' - 14' tight to structure, lay downs, step brakes. Bass are different..I've caught them in the warmest of water shallow along the weed line when their feeding. It's a tough time of year but top water spinners work good early and late in the day. The trick is to fine a good size weed bed and sneak up on it real quite. Up along the dam on the east side bank and out front of the dam rip/rap I see nice coontail weed beds growing out to 40' out That would be my spot as a plan of attack.
Good luck..
