Floated the GMR (Piqua to Troy) friday nite with a friend, caught a nice saugeye (22 1/2 inches) and he caught a nice catfish. The saugeye was not far from the Piqua dam, first for me in that area.

Caught lots of smallies, won't lie, they only ranged from 9 to 13 inches or so, but alot of fun. Saw some interesting wildlife - an osprey, pileated woodpecker, owl, and a few wood ducks.

We only did fair on live bait - spinners and plugs seemed to produce the best for us.

  2. 5 or 6 years ago the piqua dam was outproducing the troy dam on saugeye. not so much the case anymore.

i cast my arm off a couple times in the winter at the Piqua dam and struck out - it looks like such a good spot. This time of year i guess the saugeye can turn up about anyplace.
