Peak to Peak Power???

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by bobby, Mar 17, 2008.

  1. What is peak to peak power? I am looking at different gps/sonar units. They have similar everything except peak to peak power. One is 1500W, and one is 2400W. Is one substantially better than another? Will more power necessary?

    Thanks,

    Bobby

  2. Peak to peak power is the power of the sonar return signal. It becomes more important the deeper you normally fish. If most of your time is spent fishing 15' deep or less, it's probably not much of an issue. If you're fishing deep, go with the higher of the two. Sonar power will be expressed either as RMS or peak to peak power (both in watts). Peak to peak = RMS x 8

    Good fishin'
