How many river guys use waders or not during the warmer months? I use stockingfoot hip boots in the summer and regular waders in the cooler times.

I wade the Maumee and that river gets into the low 80's during the day. It's shorts , but I like wearing my wader boots with neoprene socks. My boots have studs on the bottom. The Maumee is slippery. All shale bottom with moss on it.

Yeah thats always a risk as well as ticks.

Regular Crocs and Crocs sandals make great wet wading shoes.

Waders always. Too much nasty stuff not to protect yourself. Sure, they are hot, but they keep your naughty bits safe. There's no telling what you will encounter wearing shorts and tennis shoes.

Shorts and shoes. When we wade for frogs all we do is wear jeans and old shoes. The only reason for the jeans is because of the obscene amount of water snakes at the spot we frog gig and theirs some type of small biting water bug. Burns like a mother when they bite.
