I took a buddy out on the olengtangy last night to one of my favorite holes. He got skunked fishing about everything in his tackle box. I was wading and using my fly rod and caught about 7 nice smallies and 15 rock bass in about two hours. It was excellent.

The past two times I've been out the rock bass have been slamming everything pretty hard.

Hey brewer, what flies were you using, nymphs, streamers, poppers?

I tried several including a sneaky peat with a hellgamite attached, a clouser minnow, but I ended up using a McCabe's Crayfish. They were really hammering it. I love this fly!

Thanks for the reply brewer, looks like craws were working real good for you. Was the McCabe weighted at all, or just dead drift and strip?

  5. I love that pattern too. Gotta recipe? I've been buying them, but would like to start tying them.

  6. BTW...they've been slamming the olive wooly buggers too. Try a size 8 with the gold bead head.
